The Chains of Change

Since the dawn of humanity the battle between vice and virtue has raged on within every person. Sometimes our choices define us. Sometimes as justification to our conscience; to the world; and to those we hold dear, we define our choices. Either way; our firm decisions, determent resolutions, our defeated resolves and willing or unwilling procrastination become the stepping-stones of our lives. We either evolve into better people or watch ourselves fall from the nobility of being a part of mankind, the best of His creations. However that may be, we alone are responsible for who we make ourselves to be and how we discover our souls in this mesh of chaotic images we know as our unique realities.

You see, there are certain mile-stones in our lives; upon which we are offered a choice: to change the course of our lives or to be changed by its swift and often unforgiving currents. However, it is widely believed that we are shackled to the inevitability of change: and that we have no choice in being the kind of person life would have us to be. Such a belief only serves to explain how today most of us have lost our selves to the harshness of our experiences or to the uncertainty of our faith in the strength of our own endurance. For although, change is indeed the only constant principle of life; whether that change is your evolution as a better person or your erosion into a soulless shell is in your hands; and in yours alone.

Each and every one of us has the strength to be a guiding force for all our changes. No matter how bitter our disappointments, no matter how crushing our regrets, how excruciating our pains; all of us have the power to remain steadfast on our ideals; and let them mature into better and improved versions of their previous conceptions. All that it takes is an unwavering faith in the love of The Most Loving and in the wisdom of His divine decree; and a rock-solid conviction that if your way of life is benefiting the general cause of humanity, it is the path you are supposed to walk at that particular time and place: and not a mistake.

We often find ourselves chained to the changes of our lives. If a soft hearted person is being used by others: and if they are scorned by the indifference around them, they would most likely begin to believe their tenderness to be a disease; and wish for a cure. If somebody’s honesty and hard-work is repeatedly being rewarded by unfairness as compare to someone who knows how to cheat others for their own gain; and is a conning diplomat, they would start abandoning their honesty in hopes of recognition, a higher social status or amassing more money. Most of us end up doing all this simply because we do not have a strong enough motivation to stick to our believes. As a result, we find ourselves becoming someone we once deeply despised.

In essence, the strength to break free from such an unconscious imprisonment of one’s soul; lies in a clarity of thought and action; which can only be acquired by being completely honest to one’s self: and in understanding that sooner or later we are going to be answerable for whatever we do in our live. One day we would have to stand trial in the court of our own conscience, our family and friends, and above all; before our Creator; and explain: why did we forsake ourselves. Think about the answer to this question: and it shall help you determine; whether to live a life of slavery to the ever turbulent flow of your life or to brave its raging storms; and emerge victorious in this war against yourself.
