The Silent Guardian

Poet’s Note: The following poem is composed to express the struggle with one’s conscience and how if one is honest to oneself, they can always find the strength and wisdom to choose what is right over what is easy; and the courage to face and accept one’s own reality.

Sadness dwells in a sorry heart,
And sorrow flows in a decaying soul.
Darkness shrouds a weary heart,
And innocence withers in a shattering soul.
Deceits and deceptions, lies and illusions
Are but sorry excuses,
For a soul in pain and confusion.
Lost in the lightless wilderness
of empty shadows.
Chasing after thoughts
that are; but beguiling echoes.
Such is the nature
of your captivity
imposed on you
by a treacherous self-pity.

Hark Brave Warrior, and listen.
Listen to the quiet clear call
Of He Who once blessed you strength
to stand
firm fair and tall.
Yet whose voice you now detest.
For it wants you to protect
Virtues you still believe in.
But the wretched whisperer deceives you to think
virtues you once believed in.

Wait valiant soldier, and listen.
Listen to the soft struggling murmurs
of your dying heart.
For it conceals not from you
the foulest of the dark.
Yet reveals to you
the fairest of your heart.
The Guidance
we all carry
the Martyr
we all bury.
Deep within us,
beneath our desires.
Under the lifeless land
of those raging fires.
The Guardian whose silence
voices His wisdom
whose council shall make you
the King of your own kingdom.
So listen wise Seeker
and learn
the secret of your strength.
The truth of your nature
the reality of your power
to finally end
the days of your darkened prison.

A Warriors sword is never sheathed
lest he be dead
or the cause achieved.
A soldiers valor is never shaken
Till the war is won
Or the enemy taken.
A spirit of nobility is born,
But to serve
In patient humility, Without the return,
it deserves.
A faithful soul is the one,
Who knows, understands, and learns,
To expect without hope, to be merry without mirth,
To be content without fear, to be patient with dried tears.
